Cinema in May [Popcorn Preview]

We have yet another cinema preview! May, here we come!

Also I have introduced star rating for this preview. The star rating shows how much I am excited for each movie.

There are some really nice movies that are coming out this month, and I’m feeling good about most of them actually. Let’s check ’em all out fast!

So many shinies! Can’t wait for some of them! Here’s a little preview:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Ugh. Yet another Spiderman movie. There have been loads of debates all over because of this early reboot of the franchise and I really don’t want to get into that part again. I’ll just state I understand why they did it, but I think it (the first movie) could’ve been done way better.

I think that Andrew Garfield does a way better Spiderman than Tobey Maguire. Furthermore I think Emma Stone is also better than Kirsten Dunst. Overall I believe this Spiderman movie will be better than the one from the last franchise boot. I hope they make a better movie than the first one, but I am scared they will lose themselves in narrating so many characters and enemies in one movie. One arch-enemy per movie please.

Neighbours

Not a big fan of Zac Efron, just because I think people put him in movies so he can take his shirt off and look pretty. However, I am actually interested in his comedies. I think he did a good job in That Akward Moment and I also think he’ll do a solid job here.

Seth Rogen, on the other hand, I love. There is something about that furry bear that makes me laugh my ass off whenever I see him and his shenanigans. From the trailer I reckon it’ll be a good movie that’ll make you laugh for 90 minutes and you’ll probably forget about it. I’ll probably give this one a look.

Chef

Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. and Dustin Hoffman? Sign me right up!

Seriously though, this movie looks like a really good comedy. They have a cast with huge potential, food, and judging from the trailer, some nice jokes going on. Only thing I would add is an angry chef that is rampaging through the movie. Gordon Ramsay, for sure.

Godzilla

There has been a lot of talk lately, following the release of the latest trailer of Godzilla, about how fat and funny the monster is. I can’t say I’ve had the same feelings but there is some really funny jokes floating around. It would be wrong for me to say them out loud cause they might come out wrong, but I’ll tell you they include obese Godzilla and obese Americans.

On the other hand I think that it’s about time there is a Godzilla remake. I think the trailer looks really good, suspenseful and I hope the CGI won’t disappoint. On the other hand I’d love a Heisenberg vs Godzilla fight. Let’s go Bryan Cranston!

Million Dollar Arm

I gotta admit I am getting sick of all these sports management movies coming out lately. Sure, Moneyball was a great movie and I was really impressed by it. But now it seems these similar types of movies are coming all over. There’s Draft Day, and now Million Dollar Arm. How can I even be hyped about any of them? Getting kind of tired.

Nice try Disney, but I am not falling for it.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Now THIS! This is something I am really hyped about.

Just look at the cast! Lawrence, Dinklage, Fassbender, Jackman, McAvoy and so so many more! Such an incredible cast and I must say that if the chemistry between actors shows on the screen, I’m gonna be one happy kid. I am also really looking forward to the CGI in this movie. The stadium scene looks impressive in the trailer and I really hope there is much more to come! Heck I’m going to camp out in front of the cinema right now!

Edge of Tomorrow

After that nerdgasm, we come to Tom Cruise. What a disappointement, I know.

As you may gather I am not a big fan of him. I actually I dislike almost all of his work besides Eyes Wide Shut and Oblivion. Mostly because, as he stated it himself, he played an idiot in Eyes Wide Shut and he saw that at the premiere. Kubrick also stated the he knew that the only person who could play that role was Cruise.

On the other hand I think this movie may have some potential after all. Even though it looks a lot similar to Oblivion somehow. To my mind at least. I’ll be checking this out, because it looks really interesting!

Maleficent

Angelina Jolie as a witch? Sign me up. Are there attractive outfits too?

I’m not a big fan of Disney lately, but I think this one will do fine at the box office. Angelina Jolie seems to have really dedicated herself in this movie, judging from the trailer, and I am looking forward to check this out when it arrives. Let’s hope it doesn’t turn into a cliché of love and ultimate good. Oh who am I kidding, it’s a Disney movie.

A Million Ways to Die in the West

I’m actually really hyped about this one. Seth McFarlane did a really good job with Ted and I am looking forward to his movies now. I hope this one doesn’t disappoint.

But judging from the cast and the trailer it looks like I may be in for a treat! Charlize Teron, Neil Patrick Harris and Giovanni Ribisi? Looks like a great mix for a good comedy! Although I think we can expect Liam Neeson to beat everyone up again in this movie. I’m getting sick of his ultimate hero complex in movies. It’s not as if he’s Arnold. Sheesh.
